Which future will our children see? What is CAP 2030?
The Children in All Policies 2030 (CAP-2030) was launched on 21st April 2021 with the support WHO, Unicef and The Lancet. It’s an interesting website [CAP 2030 https://cap-2030.org/]. Dalglish SL et al [Lancet 2021 doi:https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(21)00718-2] have published an editorial alerting the reader to this programme. They want to encourage clinicians and readers of the Lancet to add their voice to those of children and young people, activists, civil society institutions, religious groups, UN organisations, politicians, governments, private sector leaders, academics, and others working to centre children’s health and well-being in the urgent work of sustainable development.
They have three objectives. Firstly to build coalitions for children across countries focussing on country leadership and developing a learning agenda across countries which will promote a shared sense of mission and engage national political leaders. Second, an aim to advocate to advance action on the global climate crisis by centring children’s perspectives and harnessing their voices to drive action by national and global policy makers.
